ZEN MEDITATION

Meditation and mindfulness is practiced within our Dojo community.

 

We believe that training the mind to be present in the moment is a critical component, not only of martial training, but also our daily interactions.

During COVID we come together several times a week to “sit online.” Once everyone has joined the Zoom meeting, we’ll take an opening bow, chant a traditional recitation (to get in the proper mindset), then sit for 20 minutes. 

 

The practice is led in the Buddhist Soto Zen tradition, focusing on sitting meditation, promoting mindfulness and self awareness. Zen is a simple, stripped-down form of Buddhism that ignores strict doctrine, but has many applications in today's life. We welcome people from all religious backgrounds.
